The Meta chatbot will be able to use news from the Reuters website to provide answers to users. Both companies have signed a cooperation agreement, Axios reports.

Starting on Friday, October 25, 2024, users in the United States can contact Meta's chatbot with questions about the latest news and events, and the company's AI will be able to provide answers based on Reuters news. The chatbot can be accessed through search functions and in Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger messages.

"While most people use Meta AI for creative tasks, deep dives on new topics or how-to assistance, this partnership will help ensure a more useful experience for those seeking information on current events," said the company's representatives.

When artificial intelligence uses information from the Reuters website, it will provide links to original articles. At the same time, the publication itself will receive compensation for providing access to its materials.

The sources do not say whether the agreement between Meta and Reuters will allow the news from the site to be used to train the large language model Llama. Representatives of the company did not answer this question in a comment and only noted that this cooperation will allow users to receive more useful information about important events.
