In the iOS 18.2 update, Apple will allow users from all over the world to install third-party applications for calling and messaging by default. This was reported by 9to5Mac.

Initially, this feature was announced only for users in the EU as required by the Digital Market Act (DMA). But it seems that the company has decided to make it available to everyone.

To start using other applications for calls and messages, go to Settings -> Applications -> Default applications.

To test the new feature for yourself, you'll need to install the iOS 18.2 beta. Please note that it is only available for iPhones compatible with Apple Intelligence. However, the upcoming beta version should enable this innovation for non-AI devices as well.

In addition, the iOS 18.2 beta has many new Apple Intelligence features, which you can read about here.
