The Galaxy Fold Special Edition is 10.6 mm thick and weighs 236 grams, which is 1.5 mm thinner and 3 grams lighter than the Galaxy Fold 6. When expanded, the main screen offers an 8-inch display with an aspect ratio of 20:18. This is the widest screen in the Galaxy Fold series.
The external display has a diagonal of 6.5 inches with an aspect ratio of 21:9. The device comes with an aluminum frame. Its front and back panels are made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
As for the technical specifications, they are also slightly different from Fold 6. For the first time in the series, the new product is equipped with a 200-megapixel main camera with OIS support. It is complemented by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with autofocus and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. On the inside, the smartphone has a 4-megapixel camera below the display, as well as a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the outer panel. With the exception of the internal camera, all the cameras of the new smartphone support 4K video recording at 60 frames per second. The main camera also supports 8K video recording at 30 frames per second.
Galaxy Fold Special Edition comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor for Galaxy. The novelty has Galaxy AI features. The device is equipped with a 4400 mAh battery with support for wired and wireless charging with a capacity of 25 W and 15 W, respectively. It has dual-SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, UWB, and USB-C connectivity. The smartphone comes with a fingerprint scanner on the side.
The device comes with Android 14 based on One UI 6.1.1 out of the box. The gadget will receive Android 15 based on One UI 7.0 in early 2025. Samsung has confirmed that it plans to support the Galaxy Fold Special Edition for seven years.
Sales of the Samsung Galaxy Fold Special Edition will begin on October 25, 2024, but only in South Korea. The gadget will cost $2040. Only the Black Shadow color and one memory modification - 16/512 GB - will be available.
