Over the past six months, a lot of Copilot+ computers have appeared on the laptop market, which, in addition to improved AI capabilities, also have a separate Copilot button to call Microsoft's chatbot. However, Windows 11 will provide an option to replace the functionality of this button for users who are not interested in using AI, according to Windows Central.
The new feature is currently being tested in Windows 11 Build 27729, which is available to Windows Insider program members through the Canary Channel. Last month, the same feature was also tested on the Beta and Dev channels among Insider program members.
When the feature becomes generally available, the Copilot button on both Copilot+ computers and keyboards with the new key can be configured to open another program. For the time being, Microsoft is imposing restrictions on the available programs - they must be packaged and signed with the MSIX format to ensure user security and privacy.
