Sony has released a new software update for its flagship smartphone Xperia 1 VI. The manufacturer announced it on social media.
Thanks to a new update, Sony Xperia 1 VI now supports Wi-Fi 7. This is a new wireless standard known as 802.11be. It provides even faster data transfer speeds (compared to Wi-Fi 6), lower latency, and better efficiency.
Wi-Fi 7 has a bandwidth of up to 46 Gbps and uses multi-streaming technologies and wide channels (320 MHz). Wi-Fi 7 is suitable for gaming and 4K/8K streaming.
The new update for Xperia 1 VI is being distributed in stages. In the near future, all smartphone users will receive the OTA.
As a reminder, the flagship Sony Xperia 1 VI made its debut in May 2024. The smartphone has a 120 Hz OLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a 48 MP camera, and a 5000 mAh battery.
