The concept of Bitcoin was first published in 2008 under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. However, the real identity of the person or even a group of people behind the creation of Bitcoin was unknown.

Over the years, there have been many attempts to discover who is behind the name Satoshi Nakamoto. For example, according to one theory, the creator of Bitcoin is Hal Finney, the recipient of the first ever cryptocurrency transaction.

According to other theories, the creator of Bitcoin could be a British businessman and cryptography expert Adam Beck or cryptographer Nick Szabo. However, none of these theories has been confirmed, so Satoshi Nakamoto's identity remained unknown.

Director and producer Cullen Goback, the creator of the series Q: Into the Storm about the real creators of the QAnon conspiracy theory. In the new HBO movie, he claims that the creator of Bitcoin is developer Peter Todd. However, the movie does not claim to be a definitive expose of the cryptocurrency's creator, as it has no irrefutable evidence.

The main evidence supporting the theory that it was Peter Todd who created Bitcoin is a forum post from December 2010, in which the developer mistakenly writes messages from his account instead of Satoshi Nakamoto.
