Samsung does not have time to produce enough Exynos 2500 chips before the launch of the Galaxy S25 in January 2025. The company may release basic versions of smartphones with Snapdragon processors, as well as the top-end Ultra. This was reported by Business Korea.

Samsung's manufacturing unit has a "low productivity" 3nm process. Not all chips are quality certified and therefore performance varies from line to line.

If the rumors are true and Samsung does indeed fully switch to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (aka Snapdragon 8 Elite), it will be another blow to the company's semiconductor business. Samsung has already lost orders from NVIDIA and Apple, as these companies turned to TSMC for their AI chips.

Recently, there have been rumors in the company about the redistribution of some of the staff working in the foundry to the memory production unit. Analysts advise Samsung Electronics to spin off the foundry business into an independent company.
