Samsung has introduced the new 990 EVO Plus SSD designed for gamers, creatives and professionals. It is 50% faster than its predecessor 990 EVO and offers read speeds of up to 7250 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6300 MB/s and supports PCIe4.0. This was reported by TechRadar.

The new drive is 73% more energy efficient than the EVO 990 thanks to its 8th-generation V-NAND technology, 5-nm controller, and nickel-plated heat shield.

8th Generation V-NAND can process more information faster because it can store more data in less space, which means better performance and faster data access.

The 5-nanometer controller consumes less power and processes data faster, improving tasks such as file transfers and game downloads. In addition, the nickel-plated heat shield minimizes overheating.

The 990 EVO Plus also features Samsung's TurboWrite 2.0 technology, which speeds up writing by first using some of the more compact but slower Triple-Level Cell (TLC) SSD memory in Single-Level Cell (SLC) mode.

It also includes Samsung Magician software, which provides tools to optimize and extend the functionality of Samsung SSDs. It can monitor drive health, protect valuable data, and customize performance optimization.

The new SSD is available in 1TB models for $110, 2TB for $185, and 4TB for $345.
