Apple announced a new version of the MagSafe magnetic charger at its Hour of Radiance presentation on September 9, 2024.
Externally, it is still the same compact puck compatible with Qi2 and Qi-charging, but now it is equipped with wireless charging with a power of up to 25 watts. According to the official website, up to 50% battery charge can be achieved in about 30 minutes, but this requires the use of a 30W USB-C power adapter.
Unfortunately, the new MagSafe charger only supports the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. It can be used with older devices, but the power will be less: from iPhone 12 to iPhone 15, a maximum of 15 watts, and from iPhone 8 to iPhone 11, 7.5 watts.
The new MagSafe charger is already available on the company's website for $39/€49/£39.
