Renault is now boldly experimenting with retro hints on its own model from the past. And here is another example - in the form of the R17 Electric restomod.
From the name alone, it is immediately clear that the new Renault R17 is a nod to the Renault 17: a small coupe-like car from the 1970s. At the same time, the name Renault R17 Electric also makes it immediately clear that this time we are talking about modern electric technology. After all, the Renault R17 Electric concept is an electric vehicle with a 270-horsepower (almost 200 kW) electric motor and rear-wheel drive.
The body design is visually reminiscent of the Renault 17, but also differs in details: elongated yellow headlights are installed, the wings are significantly widened, and the taillights have turned into one continuous line. At the same time, the body is made of ultralight composite materials, so Renault R17 Electric weighs 1400 kg - not too much for an electric vehicle.
The interior of the new Renault R17 Electric also tries to combine the style of the 1970s with the technology of the 2020s. For example, the dashboard consists of four separate elements; however, now it has color displays. A place for another display was found on the center console - next to the metallized and wooden trim. The combined seat covering: brown leather and light fabric also attracts attention.
It is far from certain that the Renault R17 Electric concept car will become a harbinger of a production model. However, it is already clear that it will have a bright story to tell: first, it is scheduled to make its public debut in October at the Paris Motor Show, and after that, the Renault R17 Electric will be featured at several other exhibitions and events.
