As expected, the second-generation MG ZS crossover made its full debut at the end of the month. The car is made in keeping with its concept - it is a compact (about 4.3 m) crossover with a classic body shape, where the hood and passenger area are clearly distinguished. It may even seem that the existing MG ZS crossover has been deeply restyled by simply adding more modern headlights and lights, slightly changing the grille, and installing new 18-inch wheels.

However, in fact, the new MG ZS is radically different from its predecessor. After all, under the hood is a hybrid powertrain from the new generation MG 3. This means a combination of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine (102 hp) and an electric motor (100 kW or 136 hp), which rotate the front wheels exclusively and together produce 196 hp - a lot for a compact crossover! Although the speed performance of the new MG ZS is not very impressive: acceleration to "hundred" in 8.7 seconds and a maximum of 167 km/h. But the car should be quite economical - about 4.3 liters per 100 km.

In addition to a modern hybrid, the new MG ZS also offers a modern interior: a widescreen 12.3-inch display, a digital instrument panel, a flattened steering wheel, a dedicated center console with a transmission joystick. The basic equipment of the car includes LED headlights, a rearview camera, keyless entry, and adaptive cruise control. The maximum version will offer all-round visibility, leather seat trim, electric driver's seat adjustment, heated steering wheel and seats.

The cost of the new MG ZS for the UK is already known - from 22 thousand pounds (about $28 thousand) for the basic version, or 24.5 thousand pounds (about $31 thousand) for the maximum version. And it is the high cost that may become a problem for the new MG ZS; if not in Britain, then in Ukraine for sure.

After all, the first-generation MG ZS crossover currently has good sales in the Ukrainian market, among other things due to its attractive price - about $17-23 thousand, depending on the configuration. And a significant increase in price by $8-11 thousand at once will be very difficult to justify in the eyes of potential buyers, even taking into account the updated design, modern interior, and technological hybrid. Therefore, we expect to see other versions of the new MG ZS, albeit with a simpler engine, but also with a more affordable price.
