A new study by J.D. Power has shown that car owners do not consider a large number of features and various technologies in a car to be a good idea. While some features can be really useful, others try to solve problems that don't exist.

Certain AI-based features, such as smart climate control, are popular with car owners. However, recognition technologies such as fingerprint scanners, face recognition, and gesture control are not popular with drivers, who say that manufacturers are trying to solve problems that never existed.

Owners say that gesture control in the cabin can be problematic (43.4 problems per 100 cars), and another 21% say that the technology lacks functionality.

Among other things, people largely ignore advanced driver assistance systems. They rate well the features that allow them to see blind spots when reversing, but most other features are often not effective enough. Driving assistance systems are rated rather low, as drivers generally believe they can do a better job on their own.

In addition, screens for passengers, which are increasingly appearing in modern cars, are also considered unnecessary. Additional screens are rarely used, as in most cases drivers hardly ever carry passengers in the front seat.

These results and feedback emerged from a survey of 81,926 new car owners who were asked about their attitudes toward new technologies.
