Intel is extending the warranty for its problematic 13th and 14th generation Core processors. This is a necessary step, as the company cannot restore the chips that have already encountered the problem. This was reported by The Verge.
Intel said that the main reason for the unstable operation of the processors was "increased operating voltage". The company is already working on a patch that should solve this problem. But this will not fix the damage that has already occurred. This means that the best way to fix a damaged chip is to replace it.
Intel processors already had a three-year warranty before, so now buyers of the 13th and 14th generation Core will have a five-year warranty.
"Intel is committed to making sure all customers who have or are currently experiencing instability symptoms on their 13th and/or 14th Gen desktop processors are supported in the exchange process," says an Intel representative. "We stand behind our products."
The company once again urges customers to contact service centers and technical support. In addition, Intel is working on a tool to check the processor and diagnose whether it has been damaged.
