Buy Me a Coffee service no longer supports withdrawals to Ukrainian bank cards

- 2 August 2024, 05:18 PM

It looks like the crowdfunding service Buy Me a Coffee is shutting down in Ukraine. The user @BzickOff reported to X that she was unable to withdraw money from her Buy Me a Coffee account.

When she contacted the service's technical support, she received a response that "due to increasingly complex liability and sanctions," the company "no longer attracts new authors from Ukraine." The platform explains this by saying that due to the occupation, 20% of Ukraine's territory is subject to sanctions intended for Russia.

However, as the author notes, she has already used the platform's services in the past and withdrawn money directly to a Ukrainian bank card.

Now the author of the post will have to change the region and withdraw money to a foreign bank card, and then transfer it to a Ukrainian card.

Until now, Buy Me a Coffee has remained one of the most popular fundraising platforms. For similar reasons, the American neobank Mercury left the Ukrainian market a little earlier.
