Qualcomm says that in 2025, computers with its Snapdragon X processor based on ARM architecture will reach a minimum price of $700. Currently, the cheapest laptop with this processor is the Microsoft Surface Laptop for $999. This was reported by The Verge.
Speaking about the expected earnings in the third quarter of fiscal year 2024, Qualcomm CEO and President Cristiano Amon said that the company plans to expand its range of PCs with X-series processors.
“As we look forward to 2025, in addition to new design wins, our X series product roadmap will expand to address PCs with retail prices as low as $700 without compromising NPU performance,” says Cristiano Amon.
The company has not yet shared sales or financial results for the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus laptops. Amon says that more PC product announcements are expected at IFA, which begins the first weekend of September. He believes that Qualcomm will be "one of the leading silicon suppliers" for AI PCs in the future.
According to him, some Snapdragon X-based computers have already sold out.
It is also reported that the company has developed a new processor for smartphones, which will be presented at the Snapdragon summit in late October.
