Despite the delay in the start of sales of Ryzen 9000 series chips, on the day of the originally planned date (August 31), information on the prices of new CPUs was leaked. The source was the American trading platforms Best Buy and Newegg, which temporarily posted positions with the cost of the expected models. The most clever visitors managed to take screenshots with price tags.
AMD has not previously announced the recommended prices for the Ryzen 9000, but since the indicated values on both sites coincide, we can assume that these are the MSRP values.
So, as expected, the Ryzen 9000s will have slightly lower prices than the corresponding Ryzen 7000 models at launch. The flagship of the lineup, the 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X, is offered for $599, while the 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X model is priced at $449. In both cases, these are $100 lower than their predecessors.
The Ryzen 7 9700X model has a price tag of $359, which is $40 cheaper than the Ryzen 7 7700X, and the more affordable 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X chip will be offered for $279. And this is only $20 lower than the price of the Ryzen 5 7600X in 2022.
Despite a certain decrease, it seems that the developers did not fully take into account the current cost of Ryzen 7000 chips. For example, in Ukraine, the current retail price of Ryzen 5 7600X is ~8400 UAH (~$200).
While the retail version of Ryzen 7 7700X can easily be purchased for 12,700 UAH (~$300). This is not to mention the availability of 8-core Ryzen 7 7700 in MPK configuration for ~$240.
Will the Ryzen 9000s turn out to be as good as their higher recommended price tags? We will find out for sure the day before the launch of the respective models. We would like to remind you that Ryzen 5 7600X and Ryzen 7 7700X will be available on August 8, and the older Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X will appear on virtual shelves a week later - on August 15. Independent reviews of Ryzen 9000 chips will be available on August 7 and 14, respectively.
In the situation with the leaked price information, we assume that the process could have been "controlled" and used for preliminary assessment and analysis of the first reaction of potential buyers. We don't rule out the possibility that the final MSRPs may take into account numerous reviews, so we invite you to share your expectations in the comments. What price points do you think are reasonable for Ryzen 9000?
