Games Workshop and Amazon are still unable to agree on the production of a movie franchise about the Warhammer 40,000 fantasy universe. If the parties do not reach an agreement by December 2024, there will be no film adaptation. This was reported by IGN.
Amazon first announced its intention to create an adaptation of the famous Games Workshop universe in December 2023. The main Warhammer 40,000 fan in Hollywood, Henry Cavill, was immediately cast in the lead role of the upcoming movie. If production begins, the actor will also become an executive producer of the movie franchise for all Amazon Studios projects.
At the time, Games Workshop said it would work with Amazon for 12 months to agree on creative guidelines for movies and TV series. The company also added that the deal "will only be concluded if Games Workshop and Amazon mutually agree on creative guidelines."
This means that the companies have only five months to reach an agreement. Otherwise, the Warhammer 40,000 movie and TV series that fans of the gloomy universe are so eager for may never appear.
Henry Cavill expressed his joy at being able to bring one of his favorite universes to life.
“I have loved Warhammer since I was boy, making this moment truly special for me. The opportunity to shepherd this cinematic universe from its inception is quite the honor and the responsibility,” said Cavill. “I couldn’t be more grateful for all the hard work put in by Vertigo, Amazon and Games Workshop to make this happen. One step closer to making a nigh-on lifelong dream come true.”
