Established several years ago, Stellantis has become one of the world's largest automotive companies in terms of the number of brands and car production. However, this does not guarantee success: in the first half of 2024, the concern saw its profits drop by almost half compared to the first half of last year.
Therefore, the issue of brand survival has become acute. According to the concern's management, those that are not profitable can be sold or closed. But who is at risk? Firstly, Maserati: in the first half of 2024, only 6.5 thousand cars were sold, compared to 15 thousand in the same period in 2023.
DS cars are also in question, but they can be saved by broad unification with other Stellantis brands and the use of common platforms, engines, and technologies, all of which can reduce the cost of developing and manufacturing cars. Finally, the future of Chrysler is in question: once one of the leaders of the American market, it now produces only one model, the rather outdated Chrysler Pacifica minivan. However, Chrysler also has a certain "trump card" up its sleeve in the form of a large home market in the United States, and the issue is to update and expand its model range.
Fortunately, the rest of Stellantis is not in danger at the moment. Quite the contrary: the launch of the next Alfa Romeo and Lancia products shows that the group is trying to preserve its rich historical heritage and legendary automotive companies. But they have to work and make money.
