According to CARSCOOPS, Volvo may be preparing another electric vehicle. This time, it is the Volvo ES60 electric sedan, which will complement the existing line of electric vehicles: the Volvo EX30 and Volvo EX90 crossovers, as well as the Volvo EM90 minivan.
In addition to the typical "E" designation as a hint of electric mobility, the new Volvo ES60 sedan can also follow Volvo's new distinctive design cues, such as the "Thor's Hammer" headlights and a solid front end without the usual grille. In addition, the Volvo ES60 electric car is expected to get the latest interior: a huge 15-inch vertical display, continuous ventilation ducts, and a curved wooden insert.
As for the technical component, the Volvo ES60 electric car can be equipped with a pair of electric motors with a total capacity of 300 kW (408 hp) and a 111 kWh battery, which should be enough for a range of up to 600 km.
However, given the current slowdown in plans to switch to electric vehicles, it is possible that two models will be released simultaneously: the existing Volvo S60 sedan will remain in the company's lineup and a new Volvo ES60 electric car will be launched. After all, the Volvo S60 does not look outdated, and its range also includes electrified hybrid versions. At the same time, the launch of the new Volvo ES60 will be a response to the desire of some buyers to get a "pure electric car".
In order to further separate the two models in terms of market positioning, the Volvo ES60 may increase in size relative to the Volvo S60 and move up half a step. Thus, the new Volvo ES60 will occupy an intermediate position between the Volvo S60 and Volvo S90 - similar to the positioning of the Volvo S70 model that once existed in the company's range.
Will such weasels come true? We'll see in time - the Volvo ES60 electric car is due to make its debut in late 2025 or early 2026.
