The ASUS company presented the new 13.3-inch Zenbook S 13 OLED laptop, which it calls the thinnest model in this class. The thickness of the model is only 10.9 mm, and its weight does not exceed 1 kg, with dimensions of 296.2x216.3 mm.
To minimize the weight, the working panel of the laptop is made of magnesium-aluminum alloy. In addition, in order to reduce the thickness of the case, a new thin, but fully functional camera with a Full HD resolution and an IR sensor is built into the cover, which is made on a CNC machine. In addition, the Zenbook S 13 OLED uses a specially designed ultra-thin OLED panel, resulting in a 30% thinner lid, and a special thin glass coating is used for the laptop's touchpad.
The laptop is available in two color options: Basalt Gray and Ponder Blue.
For the first time, during the production of this laptop, the ASUS company applied a special technological process of plasma ceramization of metal, with the help of which the aluminum cover of the device acquires an original appearance. This process uses pure water and electricity and does not require organic compounds, aggressive acids and heavy metals. This highly ecological method leads to physical and chemical transformations in aluminum when the part is immersed in a special bath. The result is improved corrosion protection, wear resistance, heat transfer, hardness and durability.
The Zenbook S 13 OLED laptop is equipped with a 13.3-inch ASUS Lumina OLED display with an aspect ratio of 16:10, a resolution of 2.8K (2880x1800 pixels), a response time of 0.2 ms and a frequency of 60 Hz. Its peak brightness reaches 550 cd/m², the manufacturer also notes coverage of 100% of the DCI-P3 color space and DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.
The laptop is built on the Intel platform and has configurations with Intel Core i7-1355U and i5-1335U processors, which are complemented by integrated Intel Iris X graphics. The amount of RAM, depending on the version, can be up to 32 GB LPDDR5 5200 MHz, and the built-in up to 1 TB of fast PCIe 4 storage.
Despite the thin body, the laptop has a fairly wide set of ports, in addition to two Thunderbolt 4 with a Type-C connector and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, there is also HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5 mm audio output.
Wireless modules in the Zenbook S 13 OLED are represented by Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.2.
The capacity of the battery built into the laptop is 63 Wh, and it is charged from a 65 W power supply unit.
The Zenbook S 13 OLED is priced at $1,099 for the version with an Intel Core i5-1335U processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of built-in memory. The older model with Intel Core i7-1355U, 32 GB and 1 TB of storage will cost $1,399.
