We have recently reviewed the realme GT 6 smartphone, which can be called practically a flagship given its characteristics. The lineup also includes its junior version, the realme GT 6T. The smartphone has some simplifications compared to the realme GT 6, but the price is slightly lower. Today we will tell you more about its features and how interesting it is.

realme GT 6T specifications

In fact, the realme GT 6T has a lot in common with its older brother, the realme GT 6. The smartphones have an almost identical design. The only difference is the material of the back cover: in the realme GT 6T, it is plastic. The screens and batteries are the same, and the charging speed is similar. The main differences are that the realme GT 6T has a less efficient processor, less RAM, and a simpler set of cameras. Read more about the features and differences:

Package contents

The kit and packaging of the realme GT 6T is quite similar to the older model. So the smartphone comes with a good set in the box. In addition to the smartphone, the user receives a 120 W SuperVOOC power supply, a Type-C cable, a tray eject tool, a screen protector, documentation, and a protective matte gray bumper.

Design and ergonomics

The appearance and design of the realme GT 6T is almost identical to the realme GT 6. It is a modern all-in-one smartphone with a curved screen and very thin bezels around the perimeter. Despite the large display diagonal of 6.78 inches, the smartphone is not very large thanks to the minimal bezels and curved screen, and it is quite comfortable to use.

Above the screen is a round hole for the front camera, and above the screen is a thin slot for the earpiece speaker. As with the older model, the entire front panel is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The bezel is made of matte dark gray plastic, it has flat surfaces on all sides, but the side edges are narrower due to the design features. On the right are the volume and power buttons. They are conveniently shaped and positioned, so you don't have to reach for them with your finger.

The top edge of the realme GT 6T has an infrared transmitter, an additional earpiece speaker for stereo sound, and one of the microphones. On the bottom side, everything is quite standard: the main speaker, a USB Type-C connector, a microphone, and a tray.

Two nanoSIMs can be installed in the dual-sided tray, and memory expansion with MicroSD cards is not supported. Also, the smartphone does not support eSIM.

Unlike the realme GT 6, which (according to the company) has a glass back cover, the realme GT 6T has a plastic one. Although it feels like the difference is minimal. But with the hero of the review, it still collects prints a little more actively. The design is similar: the main part looks like a glossy coating has been applied to a matte surface. And the camera area is mirrored. realme GT 6T came to us in green (Razor Green). It's a little darker than the silver version, and it looks good too. But traces of use are more noticeable on it.

The design of the rear camera consists of three large round modules that protrude quite strongly above the surface of the back cover. Therefore, without a protective bumper, it will be quite easy to damage the bezel. Two of the larger modules contain cameras. The third one has a double LED flash.

Despite the use of slightly different materials and a lower position in the lineup, the realme GT 6T has the same IP65 dust and water protection as the realme GT 6. This means full protection against dust and water jets in any direction. But you shouldn't immerse your smartphone in water.

Display

The realme GT 6T has a display exactly like the realme GT 6, which was confirmed during hardware measurements. This is a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.78 inches, a resolution of 1264×2780, and a pixel density of about 450 ppi. Peak brightness is declared at 6000 cd/m². It's worth remembering that peak brightness is the maximum brightness of a small white area in automatic mode for a short period of time, so it's more of a marketing concept. The maximum brightness in manual mode is 1000 cd/m².

The smartphone uses a 10-bit matrix capable of displaying up to 1.07 billion colors. It is claimed that the color coverage is 100% of the DCI-P3 space, and supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision standards. The refresh rate is 1-120 Hz, the sensor readout frequency is 2500 Hz, and the PWM frequency is 2160 Hz. The screen is of excellent quality, both in terms of picture quality and brightness margin. The only issue is the greenish tint of white areas at certain angles, just like the older model.

The display settings of the realme GT 6T are also familiar from the last review. Light and dark interface theme with additional settings, increased brightness level, lowest brightness level, resolution, refresh rate, vision protection mode, color adaptation function to ambient light, and various color display modes with color temperature adjustment.

Hardware measurements showed results almost identical to the older model. In the high-brightness mode with the "Bright" color scheme, the maximum brightness was 914,096 cd/m². Color reproduction is close to reference values, with a color temperature slightly above the 6500K reference value. The color gamut is much wider than the sRGB space:

In "natural" mode, the maximum brightness is 924,895 cd/m². The color gamut is slightly narrower than sRGB and the color accuracy is lower. The color temperature is 7500-8000K, and the picture leans slightly toward cooler shades:

Security

The biometric identification tools of the realme GT 6T are completely identical to the realme GT 6. An in-screen optical fingerprint scanner is used. It works well: there were no errors during use, and the response speed is high. It is slightly inferior only to Samsung's flagships with ultrasonic scanners and Xiaomi 14, which has perhaps the fastest optical scanner I have ever used.

Like almost all Android smartphones, the realme GT 6T uses the front-facing camera to scan your face. It almost always works very quickly. Except for the almost complete absence of external lighting. The smartphone has a function to increase the brightness of the screen for such cases, but in a completely dark environment, this may not be enough.

Performance and software

Unlike the realme GT 6 with the almost top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, the realme GT 6T is equipped with a slightly simpler Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor. It features lower core frequencies and a simpler graphics accelerator. The processor has one 2.8 GHz Cortex-X4 core, four 2.6 GHz Cortex-A720 cores, and three 1.9 GHz Cortex-A520 cores. The graphics accelerator is Adreno 732.

In the basic version, the amount of RAM is 8 GB, which is quite enough. There is a function to expand the RAM by using a storage device. The storage capacity is 256 or 512 GB. It is claimed that UFS 4.0 memory is used, as in the realme GT 6, and UFS 3.1 was used in the 128 GB model, which is not sold in Ukraine. But in tests, the memory speed of the realme GT 6T is slightly slower. In synthetic tests, the smartphone is almost as good as its older brother, the difference is minimal.

The performance margin is sufficient for all applications and modern games. Call of Duty Mobile FPS, Diablo Immortal, and Genshin Impact run at high graphics settings with a frame rate of 60 FPS.

The realme GT 6T uses a similar cooling system to the older model with a dual evaporator chamber Iceberg Vapor Cooling System with a total area of 10,014 mm². But the processor itself seems to be a bit hotter: in the CPU Throttling Test stress test, performance can drop by up to 75%. For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the realme GT 6 dropped performance by up to 87%. The body becomes warm, but not so much that the smartphone is uncomfortable to hold.

A set of realme GT 6T wireless interfaces: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, Bluetooth 5.4 with support for AAC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, LDAC and LHDC codecs, NFC, and an infrared transmitter for controlling electronics. Global positioning systems GPS (L1+L5), GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS, QZSS, NavIC are supported.

We have already seen the app for controlling consumer electronics in the previous review, and it is similar in the realme GT 6T:

The function of measuring heart rate with a fingerprint scanner is also available in the Labs settings section.

The realme GT 6T uses Android 14 with the proprietary realme UI 5.0 shell, which we have already reviewed in the realme GT 6 review. It is convenient and fast. There are some localization errors, but they are few and not critical. The basic logic of Android remains unchanged, only the appearance is quite different. There are many customization options: icons, their shape, wallpaper themes, etc.

Additional features include the ability to control a smartphone with gestures in the air. I'm not sure if it will be used on a large scale. As well as additional gestures on the screen. Including locked ones. For example, you can quickly launch a camera or application by drawing a symbol on the screen. And the integration of some functions of AI. Text recognition is not very relevant yet, as only English and Chinese are supported. Also, has the ability to paint over or remove unwanted objects from photos.

Unlike the realme GT 6, in the realme GT 6T, in addition to the App Market, there are two more unnecessary icons on the desktops: Hot Apps and Hot Games. Which actually lead to the same App Market. This can be removed from desktops, but cannot be completely uninstalled. All other additional applications (TikTok, Amazon, etc.) can be removed without any problems.

Sound

Realme GT 6T's stereo sound is one of the smartphone's strengths. It is realized with the help of the main and earpiece speakers. The latter has an additional hole on the top edge of the smartphone. The speakers have approximately the same volume. The smartphone sounds loud, without significant distortion. Even bass is present, albeit in a very small amount.

Additional features include OReality sound settings for different scenarios (game, video, music and intelligent), spatial sound modes and Holo Audio sound source separation. There's also a rather pleasant tactile response from O-Haptics.

Cameras

The camera system of the realme GT 6T differs from the realme GT 6. First, the smartphone does not have a telephoto camera. And secondly, the main camera uses a slightly simpler sensor with a smaller size and lower aperture optics. This is a Sony LYT-600 with a resolution of 50 megapixels, physical size 1/1.95", pixel size 0.7µm. The aperture is f/1.88, 26 mm EFE. There is optical stabilization and phase detection autofocus. The maximum video resolution is 4K 60 FPS.

The ultra-wide-angle camera is identical to the older model. It is an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 module with f/2.2 aperture. The sensor size is 1/4 inch, pixel size: 1.12μm, viewing angle 112°. The maximum video resolution is FullHD 30 FPS. Front camera - 32-megapixel Sony IMX615 camera, f/2.45. Sensor size: 1/2.74.

The camera interface is simple and easy to use. All the basic settings are on the viewfinder screen, with mode switching and advanced settings in their usual places.

Despite the use of a slightly simpler main camera module than in realme GT 6, the photos are almost as good. The camera shoots well both during the day and in low light conditions: the detail is at a good level and the camera hardly makes any mistakes with the white balance during the day. At night, there are typical consequences of processing algorithms in the form of yellowish and orange tints.

The ultra-wide-angle camera is quite typical for this class of smartphones: photos during the day are good, at night the detail drops significantly, and some shots are quite blurry.

There is no telephoto camera, so the 2x zoom is a crop from the main camera. In most cases, it takes good pictures. Only in low light can some photos be slightly blurred.

Compared to the older model, the realme GT 6T shoots 4K video at 60 FPS worse. The detail is good, but there is no electronic stabilization and the picture is shaky:

The Ultra High Stabilization mode is only available in FullHD 60 FPS. The shaking is reduced, but still present, and there is a noticeable drop in detail:

The ultra-wide-angle shoots FullHD 30 FPS, the quality is mediocre. Detail is low and there is a duplication effect when moving:

Battery life

realme GT 6T is equipped with a 5500 mAh battery. If you exclude mobile games from your daily diet and leave the standard set of calls, instant messengers, browser, mail, social networks, YouTube, camera, and Bluetooth music, the smartphone will last a day and a half. The most active gamers will have to charge the smartphone in the evening. In the PCMark test with the brightness at 50% (high-brightness mode), the realme GT 6T showed 12 hours and 41 minutes:

The smartphone supports 120W SuperVOOC fast charging, a proprietary standard. The smartphone charges to 50% in 10 minutes and takes just under half an hour to fully charge. Induction wireless charging is not supported.

Evaluation of mezha

What we liked
  • High-quality AMOLED display
  • powerful processor
  • good main camera
  • battery life
  • very fast charging
  • loud stereo speakers
What we didn't like
  • No telephoto camera
  • mediocre video recording quality
  • no eSIM support

If we are talking about the realme GT 6T without reference to the price, it turned out to be a very nice smartphone with a lot of advantages. A great bright screen, high performance, long battery life, very fast charging, a good main camera, loud stereo sound. But when you think of the price, you immediately think of the weaknesses: first of all, the lack of a telephoto camera and very mediocre video quality. At today's price, the realme GT 6T has interesting competitors. First of all, the older realme GT 6: it costs 3000 UAH more, but it offers a more interesting set of cameras, better video quality, more RAM, and a slightly more powerful processor.
