There are no budget restrictions, no tedious communications, no city council reports, and no concern for the needs of residents. All you have to do in Dystopika is to build, focusing solely on your own discretion, desires, and sense of beauty.
No one is rushing you or organizing demonstrations outside the mayor's office, so you can freely place fantastic skyscrapers and titanic megastructures, add light panels, advertisements and inscriptions, and adjust the light. This city is an easel for a cyberpunk artist who can express himself even if he is not able to draw, model, or sketch at all.
Add rainfall and neon at night, a dramatic foggy sunrise or a bloody sunset. Customize the camera and special effects and share your creations online. There are no restrictions. And you can also upload your own promotional images to Dystopika, change the captions, and more.
Designer Matt Marshall came up with the idea for Dystopika after he quit his job, sold all his possessions in Canada, packed everything into one backpack, and set off on a long trip through Asia in 2022. Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia... Matt himself says he was inspired by movies like Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell and cities like Hanoi, Bangkok, and Osaka.
Dystopika is a small game that costs only 146 UAH for the release until July 5, 2024. But the author is not going to stop, Matt already has a plan for further development of the project. New elements of city decoration, new features, improved photo mode, new neighborhoods and megastructures, support for mods, and more. So, to be continued.
In fact, the number of soothing games that don't put pressure on the player but rather are a tool for creativity has grown significantly. We have Tiny Glade, where we have to build fairy-tale ruins and castles (1 million additions to the Wish List!). Ukrainian My Dream Setup, where you have to decorate and furnish your own room. Townscaper, where you can build a quirky fantasy city on the islands. SUMMERHOUSE, where you build a cozy country house in 2D. And much more. It looks like not only Ukrainians need a little something to keep their roof in place from time to time. Well, Dystopika is not the worst way to spend time meditating.
