Prices for SSDs and other solid-state drives are expected to decline due to oversupply, forcing manufacturers to cut production. This was reported by The Register.

Analytical company TrendForce says that manufacturers will revise their growth rates for 2025 from 30% to 10-15%.

"NAND flash manufacturers have adopted more decisive production cuts, scaling back full-year output to curb bit supply growth. These measures are designed to swiftly alleviate market imbalances and lay the groundwork for a price recovery," says TrendForce.

Shrish Pant, Research Analyst and Technology Product Leader at Gartner, predicts that NAND flash memory prices will remain low until mid-2025. He believes that the flash memory market is cyclical, and prices will rise again in the second half of the year.

According to a post on LinkedIn by memory distributor Memphis Electronic, flash memory prices have been falling for four months in a row, due to a decline in purchases from key customers such as smartphone and laptop manufacturers.
