Rockstar Games is in talks with Roblox and Fortnite developers about the possibility of introducing user-generated spaces and content generation similar to these games in Grand Theft Auto VI. This was reported by Digiday.

In Fortnite and Roblox, players can create and share their own game worlds. Sometimes even other companies develop such projects, adding sponsors, advertising, or receiving a share of sales of in-game items.

Three insiders who spoke anonymously to Digiday said that Rockstar Games wants to add a similar system to the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI game. To do this, the company has been talking to well-known content creators for other games about creating a similar system that would allow them to modify the environment and create new entertainment and spaces for players.

So far, the negotiations are ongoing without commitment, and the final decision remains unknown. It is worth noting that Rockstar Games has previously acquired Cfx.re, the developers of popular multiplayer mods FiveM and RedM for GTA V. This may be one of the first steps towards creating a metaverse in Grand Theft Auto VI.

Currently, Grand Theft Auto V offers players post-story content through GTA Online, and user-generated content is mostly focused on its own servers, where, as in the case of FiveM, monetization is done through subscriptions. The addition of the ability to create your own gaming spaces in GTA VI can greatly simplify the process of creating unique content for players.

The question remains how users will benefit and what monetization model Rockstar Games will choose. In Fortnite and Roblox, the creators of game spaces receive a percentage of the sales of in-game items, but it is not yet known how Rockstar plans to implement this system in GTA VI.

As a reminder, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release in the fall of 2025. Recently, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar Games, noted that he had not heard any concerns about the release from developers and confirmed the goal of releasing the game in the fall.
