Sales of Ray-Ban smart glasses, developed by Meta in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, have exceeded 2 million units since their release in 2023. EssilorLuxottica, which is in charge of manufacturing, plans to increase its annual production capacity, UPload reports.
Francesco Miller, CEO of EssilorLuxoticca, shared the results of Ray-Ban eyewear sales during the financial statements for Q4 2024, calling them a "great success." He also noted that the number of customers who continue to use the product every day without leaving it is growing.
The company plans to increase the production of smart glasses to 10 million units by the end of 2026. Meanwhile, Meta is actively investing in Ray-Ban's marketing, including buying ads with popular stars for the Super Bowl.
EssilorLuxoticca has high expectations for Meta's marketing initiatives and hopes that it will contribute to sales growth in 2025. Additionally, Ray-Ban recently appointed the CEO of The RealReal, a luxury goods website, as Vice President of Wearables Retail.
By the way, Meta is currently preparing a new generation of Ray-Bans that will have a small screen and plans to expand the product's availability to new markets. In addition, the company has several other smart accessories in development, including all-new glasses and even wireless headphones.
