Following Tesla, Apple, and OpenAI, Meta has also entered the field of robotics. It has created a new robotics team at its Reality Labs and is actively investing in its development, Bloomberg reports.

Initially, Meta will focus on robots that can do household chores, but the company's main goal is to create artificial intelligence, sensors, and robot software that can be produced and sold to third-party companies to develop their own robots. Meta aims to become a kind of Android for robotics.

In 2025, Meta will spend about $65 billion on artificial intelligence infrastructure, robotics, and virtual reality products. Meta plans to build its own hardware and collaborate with robotics manufacturers to create prototypes.

Meta will also work on developing tools to ensure the safety of robots, in particular, to prevent human injuries when interacting with a robot. In addition, there are energy safety issues, such as how a robot stops performing a task or shuts down if it runs out of energy.

Although the official focus on humanoid robots is new to Meta, its FAIR (Fundamental Artificial Intelligence Research Group) group has been researching and publishing robotics papers for several months. Recently, Apple has also started publishing artificial intelligence papers related to this area.

According to the anonymous source, Meta believes that humanoid robots will not soon be available for widespread use, and it may take years before the company's platform is ready for third-party products. However, this will become a major focus for both Meta and the entire tech industry.
