Google Chrome is adding artificial intelligence to its "Enhanced Protection" against dangerous websites, downloads, and extensions. This was reported by BleepingComputer.
Google reports that the update will provide a more thorough scan to detect suspicious downloads on the user's device. In addition, the company warns that the Enhanced Protection feature will collect data on visited sites.
Google does not specify how AI will work in the browser, but it can collect data on dangerous sites, identify common patterns, and warn users about potential dangers on sites that have not been previously recognized as such.
Enhanced AI protection is disabled by default in the browser, but can be activated by going to Settings - Privacy & Security - Security.
Traditionally for Google, the update will be rolled out gradually and will be available to all users within a few weeks.
