The United Kingdom is considering the use of Claude chatbot from the American AI company Anthropic to improve people's interaction with public information and public services. This is reported by Reuters with reference to a government statement.
Anthropic has already signed a memorandum of cooperation with the UK government. At the same time, Prime Minister Keir Starmer promised to make the UK an artificial intelligence "superpower" and increase the productivity of public services through new technologies. He also promised to take an innovative approach to regulations.
"Today's partnership with Anthropic delivers our commitment to make the UK the best place to build frontier AI, so the benefits of this transformative technology are felt by people and businesses across the country," said UK Minister of Technology Peter Kyle.
Claude is already being actively used by government agencies and public institutions, including the European Parliament. The chatbot is used, among other things, to work with archives, where new technologies help to reduce the time required to search and analyze documents.
As a reminder, Anthropic is one of OpenAI's biggest competitors in the field of artificial intelligence. The company has attracted more than $8 billion in investments from Amazon and another $2 billion from Google. At the end of the year, the company released a desktop version of Claude chatbot for Windows and Mac.
