Elon Musk's social network X has agreed to pay President Donald Trump $10 million to settle a lawsuit filed back when the company was called Twitter and owned by Jack Dorsey, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The lawsuit concerned Twitter's decision to block Trump after the events of January 6, 2021, when his supporters stormed the US Capitol.
Trump's team reportedly considered dropping the lawsuit against X because of his relationship with Musk, which has only strengthened over the past two years.
Musk took over Trump's Twitter account in 2022 and then spent more than $250 million on his 2024 presidential campaign. This week, Musk and Trump held a joint briefing in the Oval Office.
Despite his relationship with Musk, Trump still decided to end the case through a deal.
In addition to Twitter, Donald Trump has also sued other companies, such as ABC News, which paid $15 million to settle a lawsuit, and Meta , which paid $25 million for blocking the president's Facebook account.
