Apple-owned Beats has introduced new fully wireless sports headphones Powerbeats Pro 2.
The new product has a slightly updated design with a rubber body and a new nickel-titanium alloy frame for ear attachment. The headphones are 20% lighter than the previous model. The charging case is 33% smaller and now supports Qi wireless charging. The device is also IPX4 water and sweat resistant.
A new feature of this model is built-in heart rate monitoring. Each earbud is equipped with an optical sensor, and together they can measure blood flow in real time. The earbuds can integrate with various fitness apps using available APIs and also work with Apple Health.
Powerbeats Pro 2 received an updated speaker system with a new dual-layer transducer and an improved amplifier. The transducers are aligned with the acoustic spout for direct sound flow, and a new acoustically transparent mesh provides additional protection without affecting sound quality.
Powerbeats Pro 2 use Apple's H2 chip, which is also found in AirPods Pro 2. It is responsible for the level of active noise reduction, transparency mode, and the spatial audio function with head tracking. The new product also has Adaptive EQ, which adjusts the sound to your individual ears and the shape of the ear canal, but only works when ANC or transparency mode is turned off.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 provide up to 8 hours of playback time, and with the charging case, the battery life increases to 36 hours with ANC enabled. Without this feature, the headphones will last up to 10 and 45 hours, respectively.
Powerbeats Pro 2 will cost $249/€299 and will be available in four colors: Jet Black, Quick Sand, Hyper Purple, and Electric Orange. The headphones will go on sale on February 13, 2025.
