OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that paid ChatGPT Plus subscribers for $20 per month and free users can get limited access to the o3 Deep Research agent, which is available in the most expensive subscription for $200 per month. However, Altman did not provide any details on when this feature will become available.
Although two uses per month may seem like a limitation for free users, this approach is likely aimed at demonstrating the tool's potential and encouraging users to upgrade to paid plans. For ChatGPT Plus subscribers with 10 monthly uses, the offer looks more practical.
However, Altman also hinted at plans to gradually increase usage limits, providing wider access as technology and infrastructure improve.
It is worth recalling that o3 Deep Research is OpenAI's response to the Deep Research tool developed on the basis of Google Gemini. It functions as an autonomous digital assistant that searches the Internet and scientific sources to gather detailed information about topics or tasks that users set. The agent compiles the results into detailed reports, allowing users to do other things or leave their devices altogether. Finished reports are delivered in a few minutes or hours with appropriate notifications.
