Apple has introduced a new feature that allows users to merge two Apple accounts, simplifying the transfer of payment methods, subscriptions, and App Store purchases, MacRumors reports. It is worth noting that this service is not yet available in the European Union, the UK, and India.
To begin the process, users need to sign in to their iPhone or iPad with two separate accounts: one for iCloud and one for purchases. Apple has set several conditions, including the need for both accounts to be registered in the same country, as well as confirmation that there are no balances on the second account.
Users who are interested in merging their accounts are advised to read Apple's action list, which describes the steps, potential consequences, and instructions for reversing the process if necessary.
The merging process includes the following steps:
- Open the Settings app;
- Go to the Media and shopping section;
- Select View account.
- Select the Migrate purchases option.
Once the migration is complete, the second account can no longer be used for purchases. Users will have to sign in with their main account on all Apple devices.
All payment methods associated with the second account will be transferred to the main account along with active subscriptions.
In addition:
- The Up Next list in Apple TV from the second account will replace the content in the main account;
- Your podcast library data will also be transferred to your main account.
Apple recommends that users visit the official support page for more information on account migration.
