The first tests of Samsung's 2-nm process showed a yield of 30%, which exceeded the company's expectations. This may mean that the next generation of Galaxy S26 smartphones will be equipped with Exynos 2600 chips, Android Headlines reports.
While 30% may seem like a small number, it is actually quite a positive result for an initial test. The yield can still improve with optimization.
2024 was a difficult year for Samsung's semiconductor division. The low yield of 3nm wafers forced the company to use Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chips in the Galaxy S25. According to reports, these figures reached only 10%.
Samsung's 2nm process will improve performance by 12%, energy efficiency by 25%, and reduce chip size by 5%.
In December, Samsung confirmed that they managed to stabilize the production of 3nm wafers. According to a recent report, the company is now working on optimizing the Exynos 2500 chip. This year, Samsung will introduce this chip in the Galaxy Flip 7 and Flip FE foldable smartphones. The chip may also appear in the Galaxy Fold 7, but this is still in question.
