Chinese AI lab DeepSeek is actively hiring employees to create general artificial intelligence (AGI). This was reported by Bloomberg.
The company is looking for specialists ranging from data experts and deep learning researchers to the head of the legal department. There is also an intern position available for $70 per day. Most of the positions involve working in Beijing, although some will be based in Hangzhou, where the startup was born.
In announcements posted over the weekend, DeepSeek is looking for a head of legal to help build a risk management system for AGI and lead communication with government agencies, regulators, and research institutes. To work in a research area that requires in-depth study, the Chinese company prefers candidates who "have achieved good results in industry competitions." Even for potential interns, priority will be given to candidates who have published articles and participated in artificial intelligence conferences or participated in open source projects.
Earlier, the Chinese company posted vacancies for a CFO, COO, head of administration, and a recruiting manager, which indicates that the startup is preparing for a large-scale expansion.
By the way, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son consider AGI to be the main goal of AI development. Unlike highly specialized models, AGI will be able to think and learn like a human.
