OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Pro, a premium subscription plan designed to give researchers, engineers, and power users access to the company's most powerful AI models and tools. For $200 per month, ChatGPT Pro includes OpenAI o1, the company's smartest AI model to date, as well as additional features designed to solve complex problems.
As artificial intelligence solves more and more complex and important tasks, OpenAI says that more computing power is needed to achieve these successes. The ChatGPT Pro plan offers unlimited access to OpenAI's o1, o1-mini, GPT-4o, and Advanced Voice models. In addition, subscribers get access to the o1 pro model, a more powerful version of OpenAI o1.
The o1 pro model provides increased accuracy and reliability for complex queries. External expert evaluations show that o1 pro outperforms OpenAI o1 and its predecessor in areas such as data science, programming, and legal analysis, while also outperforming them in challenging math, science, and programming tests.
To emphasize the superiority of the o1 pro model, OpenAI uses a strict evaluation metric, according to which the model must give the correct answer in four out of four attempts for a question to be considered solved — this criterion does not apply to standard versions.
Subscribers can activate the o1 pro mode by selecting the model in the ChatGPT interface. While responses in this mode may take longer due to increased computational requirements, users will be informed of this via a progress bar and in-app notifications.
