Publisher Wired Productions and developer JustAdd Water presented the most expensive collector's version of the video game in history. DIG VR Collector's Edition costs £500 000.
The collector's edition includes two real JCB 100c-2 mini-excavators, two Meta Quest 3 VR headsets, two copies of the DIG VR game, a Dig This Las Vegas trip with experience on real large excavators (flight and hotel included), a tour of the JCB Museum in the UK (travel and hotel included), an annual ticket to Diggerland amusement park in the UK, a custom protective helmet and jacket, and a mention in the game's credits.
The cost of a regular copy of DIG VR for Meta Quest 3 is only $19.99 or $14.99 for pre-order. And yes, this is a VR excavator simulator with some humorous elements.
Until now, the most expensive collector's version of the video game was Grid 2: Mono Edition (2013) worth £125,000, which included a real single-seat road-legal sports car BAC Mono and a tour of the BAC factory.
