Yevhen, a Kharkiv resident and developer of the Ostrov urban planning strategy, has announced his new side project, Tile Cities 2, a sequel to the minimalist urban planning puzzle game Tile Cities, which was released in 2022.
Back in the day, the first Tile Cities helped Yevhen survive the difficult period of the beginning of the full-scale war, when he had no access to his desktop PC due to shelling and bombing of Kharkiv, so he was unable to continue developing the Island and decided to create something small on his laptop. The development of the first Tile Cities lasted only a few months. Tile Cities sold more than 10 thousand copies, which allowed Yevhen to allocate more funds to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Tile Cities 2 continues to develop the concept of the first part, but this time in 3D. That is, it is a calm turn-based city-planning puzzle game like Carcassonne or Dorfromantik with a touch of classic Chinese Tangram.
Each turn, the player receives a set of new city blocks (tiles) that can be added to his city. But it is necessary to plan the development of the city in advance to meet the needs of residents and maintain a balanced budget, ensuring the efficient placement of special buildings.
In addition to the updated version of the gameplay, Tile Cities 2 will also have a "Classic Mode" that recreates the original Tile Cities gameplay. There will also be a creative mode without any restrictions.
Of course, Tile Cities 2 has a Ukrainian localization, but no Russian one. The game is scheduled for release in 2024. Adding to Wish List.
