Blizzard has released a new mount (a beast for moving around the game world) for World of Warcraft. It costs $90 and is a limited offer that will be valid until January 2025. Despite the high price, players are still actively buying it, IGN reports.
The new Gilded Brutosaur, in addition to allowing players to move around the map faster, also allows them to check the internal auction and mail with the help of the characters Morten and Killia sitting next to them.
However, despite the fact that the mountain itself has good features that can be useful for players, its cost of $90 is difficult to explain. For this money, you can buy the Deluxe edition of the latest game expansion The War Within, or a six-month subscription to the MMORPG from Blizzard.
Of course, at first, this caused a lot of negative feedback from players who were indignant at Blizzard's impudence. There were many disappointed comments on social media and Reddit on this topic. Players were surprised by this price in a game that already requires a monthly subscription and has paid add-ons. Nevertheless, World of Warcraft's servers are full of players riding the Gilded Brutosaur.
The new beast, as already mentioned, can be bought for $90, but there is another option that most players prefer. They spend in-game currency to buy WoW Token.
To understand the situation, players buy WoW tokens for $20, and sometimes put them up for sale at in-game auctions. A player who buys this token can convert it into real currency on Battle.net, which is equal to $15 (Blizzard takes $5 as a commission). Thus, to buy Gilded Brotosaur, you need six of these tokens, and the tokens themselves require more than 2 million in-game gold.
It is still a high price, but it does not stop World of Warcraft players from buying a new mount. Some users on Reddit even joke that the Gilded Brutosaur alone, which was not very difficult to create, brought Blizzard more money than the entire Starcraft 2 game.
