BOOX has introduced a new Android-based e-reader - Palma 2. It has a fingerprint scanner and a faster processor compared to the first generation. The new e-book costs $279.
The device has a black and white version, a 6.13-inch Carta 1200 display with a resolution of 824 x 1649 pixels, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The gadget is also equipped with a 3950 mAh battery, a microSD card slot, and a fingerprint scanner in the power button.
One of the main improvements of the Palma 2 compared to the previous generation is the octa-core processor and Android 13. The new chip paired with BOOX Super Refresh (BSR) technology will speed up the overall system performance, including app response and smooth scrolling and switching between tasks.
Thanks to Android 13, users will be able to install applications from the Google Play Store. The device also has a built-in NeoReader app, which is BOOX's native reading program. It supports up to 20 document formats, including PDF, TXT, DOC, EPUB, and many others.
In addition, the Palma 2 is equipped with two microphones and speakers, as well as a 16-megapixel camera (supports document scanning). BOOX claims that, among other things, this book can also be used as a portable audio player for music and podcasts.
