In early 2024, Google introduced a useful accessibility feature in Chrome for Android that allows users to listen to a web page. Now it has received a useful addition, according to 9to5Google.
This refers to the ability to listen to articles in the background. Support for background playback for the "Listen to this page" feature in Chrome was first spotted in June 2024, but it was hidden behind an experimental flag. The feature is now available for Android users in Chrome version 130.
After the update, Chrome will be able to play articles even if you turn off your smartphone screen or switch to another app. The media player in notifications has basic controls and shows the article title and website. Users can also change the playback speed.
