SpaceX is increasing the pace of launches. After the fifth test of Starship and Super Heavy on October 13, 2024, the company launched the NASA Europa Clipper science mission on October 14, 2024, and on October 15, 2024, it launched two Falcon 9 Block 5 rockets with Starlink satellites, adding 43 vehicles to its near-Earth group.
The first launch took place on October 15, 2024 at 06:10 from the SLC-40 launch pad at Cape Canaveral Space Force Base, and the second - at 08:21 from the SLC-4E launch pad at Vandenberg Space Force Base. That is, one from the east and one from the west coast of the United States. All 43 satellites turned around in orbit without any problems.
The next three launches of Starlink satellites using Falcon 9 Block 5 rockets are scheduled for October 17-19, 2024.
As of now, 189 space launches have already been carried out in 2024, 182 of which were completely successful. The United States is in the lead with 117 launches (100 of which were by SpaceX), two of which were unsuccessful, followed by China with 47 launches (2 unsuccessful), and Russia with 11 launches.
As a reminder, 223 launches were made in 2023, of which 212 were considered successful. In 2022, there were 178 successful launches. In 2024, thanks largely to SpaceX, there is a chance to break this record.
