Google is working on the ability to add plugins to the Chrome browser for Android. It will be a separate version of the browser, like Chrome Canary or Chrome Dev for PC. But it seems that this version of the browser will bypass smartphones. Android Authority writes about it.

Google is working on a new version of Chrome for Android aimed at desktop devices such as Chromebooks. This indicates that Google wants to unify Chrome builds for Android and Chrome OS, with the main difference being in the form factor for which a particular version is available.

This new version of Chrome for Android, currently called Desktop Android, will include support for browser extensions to ensure that it has the same functionality as the Chrome OS version.

Back in June 2024, Google announced that Chrome OS would become more similar to Android by using a significant part of the latter's technology stack. At the time, Google said that Chrome OS would start using the Android Linux kernel and Android frameworks.
