11 Bit Studios, the creators of Frostpunk 2 and This War of Mine, are postponing the release of their next game, The Alters, to early 2025. The developers took this step due to the recent drop in the company's shares, despite the success of Frostpunk 2. Hardcore Gamer writes about it.
President of 11 Bit Studios Przemyslaw Marshall said that the studio needs more time to implement all the planned things in the game. Besides, the developers want to focus their attention on Frostpunk 2.
Despite favorable reviews and a sufficient number of copies sold, investors were disappointed.
"Frostpunk 2 while it had strong reviews, and sold 350k copies in a week to make back its budget, caused 11Bit Studios stock to drop because investors expected even better sales, prompting caution from the studio, especially when combined with some negative player feedback," Przemyslaw Marshall writes.
By postponing The Alters, the developers are giving themselves more time to work on Frostpunk 2's problems and bring these improvements to the players.
In June, The Alters participated in the Steam Next Fest, where it was a great success, becoming one of the most talked about games of the festival. The idea of a game about a colony of alternate versions of the same person seems to have resonated with players, making the game one of the fifty most desired games on Steam today.
Another reason for postponing the game's release date is the developers' desire to conduct a more active advertising campaign to attract the largest possible audience.
