Gmail's Smart Reply feature is getting smarter with Google's Gemini. Instead of simple replies, users will be offered broader and more detailed responses written with the help of artificial intelligence.
Google notes that previous responses were too simple, such as "Already working on it" or "Sounds great," and did not give users full options for quick answers, but with the addition of new AI-based responses, this will change.
As before, users will receive several suggested answers based on the context of the conversation, which this time will be generated by Gemini.
When users hover over each response or tap it on their smartphone, they'll see a preview of the text to choose the one that best fits the situation, then edit, rewrite, or send it immediately.
The new AI-powered smart replies will be available only in English for now, but the feature is already being rolled out to Gmail users with the following Google Workspace plans: Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, and Google One AI Premium.
