Sony has shown a trailer for Ghost of Yōtei, a new game from its internal PlayStation studio Sucker Punch, at State of Play. The developers decided to develop the series in the format of an anthology, and the new game will take place on the other side of Japan and 400 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima.
Mount Yotei is located on the northernmost island of Japan, Hokkaido. The game will take place in 1603. At the very beginning of the Edo period, in the year of the founding of the Tokugawa shogunate.
You'll play as a woman named Atsu, who has a bounty on her head, and is being hunted by ronin. Sucker Punch continues to explore Akira Kurasawa's filmography, and this time they have found close ties between his films and the Western genre, which is clearly visible in the soundtrack.
Ghost of Yōtei will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 in 2025.
