To disconnect the battery from the board, you need to apply an electric current from a power source (a 9-volt battery will last for 90 seconds). For the adhesive to stick to the new battery, you just need to press on it.
Apple notes that in the future, the current supply time may increase, but in current smartphones, using a voltage of 20 V was enough to disconnect the battery in five seconds. Apple claims that up to 30 V can be used.
