The UN Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence has proposed seven recommendations to address risks and gaps in AI governance, Reuters reports.

First of all, the body called for the creation of an international expert group to provide unbiased and reliable scientific knowledge about artificial intelligence and eliminate the information imbalance between AI laboratories and the rest of the world.

The UN advisory body also recommends launching an intergovernmental multilateral dialogue on AI governance. It is proposed to be held twice a year.

The third recommendation involves the exchange of AI standards, including the development and maintenance of a register of definitions and standards for measuring and evaluating AI systems.

The fourth recommendation is to create a network for AI capacity building. Another recommendation of the advisory body is to create a global fund to end inequality in the development of the industry.

Among other things, the body also recommends the creation of a global AI data structure. Finally, the report proposes the establishment of an AI office to support and coordinate the implementation of these proposals.

These recommendations will be discussed during the UN summit to be held in September.

As a reminder, the UN has established a 39-member advisory body to address international artificial intelligence governance in 2023.
