Relations between AMD and laptop manufacturers are currently quite tense. It is reported that the latter claim that the chipmaker gives higher priority to data centers. This was reported by TehcSpot.
Analyst firm AC Analysis describes the situation between AMD and notebook manufacturers as a "Cold War Ice Age." Reportedly, the main source of resentment among notebook makers is that the company is focusing on enterprise chips, devaluing consumer chips such as GPUs and notebook chips.
Among other things, laptop manufacturers say that there are misunderstandings with the company, it does not fulfill its promises and generally shows a poor attitude towards customers. AMD is also compared to Intel in its heyday.
Earlier, the company's CEO Lisa Su said that data centers were a top priority. At the same time, AC Analysis notes that the company has a startup culture that prevents the chipmaker from fully capitalizing on its market position. One source noted that the company has potentially lost billions of dollars due to internal problems.
In addition to this, Strix Point, the company's new chips, have been received rather lukewarmly by laptop manufacturers. Only three manufacturers are listed on the official website - Asus, HP, and Acer. Qualcomm lists seven manufacturers of laptops with Snapdragon X chips inside.
