According to an independent journalist from Taiwan, Tim Culpin, Apple's A16 processors are now being manufactured at TSMC's American plant in Arizona.
The A16 chip, which debuted in the iPhone 14 Pro two years ago, is reportedly being produced in small but tangible quantities. TSMC is said to be using the same 4nm N4P process used at the Taiwanese fab for this purpose.
This move is in line with previous reports that TSMC's Arizona fab will start producing advanced chips for Apple in 2024. Production at the fab is expected to increase significantly after the completion of the second phase of the first phase, with full-scale production scheduled for the first half of 2025.
It is not yet known which Apple devices will use American-made A16 chips, but they could potentially appear in the future iPad model or the next generation of iPhone SE. By the way, iPhone SE 3 should also receive the company's proprietary 5G modem.
