In 2025, Apple will introduce a 2-nanometer chip along with the iPhone 17 series. This was reported by CTEE.
The new processor will be produced by the Taiwanese company TSMC. The report says that Apple has reserved all of TSMC's 2-nm capacity, but due to the low performance of the new process, the SoC is planned to be installed only in the top models of the series - iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The 2-nm line has already been installed at the Baoshan plant and will begin trial production in the third quarter of 2024, three months ahead of schedule.
TSMC is expected to provide the N2 process to Apple and NVIDIA. This will help them get ahead of Samsung and Intel in the chip manufacturing market.
